Now in its 5th year, the Punta Sayulita Classic is regarded as one of the premier international surfing and stand-up paddle (SUP) events in North America attracting thousands of spectators and one of the deepest international fields of professional athletes and amateurs competing in longboard and stand-up paddle (“SUP”) surfing contests as well as in an array of exciting offshore SUP distance races.
The Punta Sayulita Classic Race Committee announced today that the 12.6 Race Board will be the specified board class for all “Elite/Pro” level racers racing in the 10K Distance Race. As such, all “Elite/Pro” level racers should enter into the 12.6 Division and not in the 14 ft. class division. This decision was made to avoid a dilution of the Elite/Pro racers into two different board classes (12.6 and 14) and also for the convenience of the competitors traveling to the event to avoid complications of traveling with both 12.6 and 14 ft. boards and in some cases, SUP surfboards as well.
With respect to the 10K distance race, a 14 ft. board class will still be available for those wishing to race on a 14 ft. board however, this will not be applicable for Elite/Pro Racers.
Only 12.6 race boards and under will be allowed in the technical “Battle of the Paddle” style Elite Race which will take place on Saturday, March 8.
Competitors flying on Alaska Airlines should send their record locator to the Punta Sayulita Classic Race Committee at email@example.com so we can forward it to Alaska Airlines and inform them that you will be traveling with a 12.6 race board.

We are pleased to announce that Brushfire Records recording artist G. Love & Special Sauce will be performing the Punta Sayulita Classic Benefit Concert on Saturday, March 8th at 8:00 p.m. The enigmatically smooth Garrett “G. Love” Dutton is one of Philadelphia’s funkiest performers of laid back, alternative hip-hop blues (a genre he helped define). The benefit concert is FREE and with G. Love releasing his newest album “Sugar” in April, attendees will be the first to hear some of the new tracks.
